BIRGIT COMPTON WEDDINGS
Our next Bridal lovely is the charming Charlene Tilton, from Oxfordshire.
Sweet, though the young lady undoubtedly is, the main attraction here is her fantastic dress,
the absolute highlight of our personal collection and benchmark of wedding dress quality.

Charlene’s wedding dress is quite simply the most exquisite piece of bridal craftsman ship we’ve ever had our privilege to get our
hands on here at BirgitCompton.com. If I told you how much it originally cost and how little we paid for it, (a donation to charity,
how adorable !), well, you’d simply weep. It’s difficult to know quite where to begin, but Charlene was a very lucky girl indeed.
First up, the colour is the palest shade of
pink, which might upset some of you
traditionalists out there, but I suppose
does let us know that young Charlene
was well rodgered before reaching her
wedding night. Amongst the highlights of
the top half of the dress are the sleeves,
which are an exquisite festival of white
lace and pink satin, with large pink satin
bows. The tops of the sleeves at the
shoulders are padded and contrast to the
broad translucent, embroided lace
hanging down to the elbow and  around
the neckline over the shoulders
themselves. The neckline at both the
front and back is a continuous run of small
pink fabric roses, while the front of the
bodice is quite simple but stitched with
exquisite detail. The bodice itself is
lightly boned to ensure firm control is
maintained.
The hem of the dress at the front  is raised up and gathered together will more fabric roses, lifting the outer shell of the
dress to reveal layers of netting beneath in a most fetching ‘Bo-peep’ style. The separate matching underskirt crinoline,
which we also have, ensures the skirts are filled out in a most captivating way. The integral wire hoops of the crinoline
ensure that the skirts sway as the bride walks, but must be a bit of a bugger when in comes to sitting down at a table for the
reception. The best dressed bride must suffer a little for her art and to please us all the more. The visible netting of the
attached underskirts are tiered in several layers, giving volume to the hemline and this too is detailed with more soft
tantalizing white lace embroidery of the highest quality.
Regrettably we don’t have Charlene’s
head-dress in our collection. We tried, but
it seems that it was made up with fresh
flowers to match her bouquet and that it
didn’t survive intact to be passed on.
We don’t know who the plump bridesmaid
is, one guess is that she might be a kind of
fatter, unattractive, elder sister, but we can’
t help but feel she rather spoils the view.
Her dress is distinctly down market
compared to Charlene’s and only the
brolly with the matching flowers attached
has any redeeming features at all. The
disparity merely corroborates how awe-
inspiring Charlene’s dress is in
comparison. If we had the time we might air-
brush her out.  A hefty shove into the lake
behind would have been the best course
of action at the time, had we been taking
the photograph.  No need to get in touch.
Unfortunately we don’t have any pictures
of the back of Charlene’s dress whilst she
was wearing it ‘in combat’, so to speak, but
we can certainly fill that gap for you now
that her dress is in our possession. Again,
the back of the dress is full of exciting
detail and whereas with Emma’s dress, it
was the corset style lacing that conspired
to make dressing and undressing one’s
self nigh-on impossible, here it is a positive
feast of silk covered buttons.
