BIRGIT COMPTON'S
BOB PICTURES - 4
The style is bob. Blonde bob. Surely the highlight of the entire James Bond franchise is the hairstyle of actress
Maryam D’Abo in the 1987 episode : ‘The Living Daylights’. Right from the off there’s ample opportunity for Maryam
to do ample running about and flicking her fantastic bob from side to side as she seems to spend half the time trying to see
what’s going on behind her. During the course of the flick,James Bond, Timothy Dalton, (lucky bugger), gets several
opportunities to run his hands through her lush locks and indulge in a bit of horizontal rough and tumble, making the most
of his chance to sniff her shampoo and performance rate her personal choice of conditioner.
Maryam’s acting may not be the best and the story hardly the strongest of the 007 series, but frankly, we didn’t notice.
We spend most of the film freeze framing the DVD player or repeatedly watching her swing her bob from side to side as
she tries to see what is going in the back of the plane that she is somewhat improbably flying over Afghanistan.
The best bob in Cinema graphic history :
Maryam D’abo.
Sadly, she spends much of the film in unflattering garb, with the exception of the blue Chanel outfit she wears to the
Viennese opera and the satin kimono she sports whilst practicing on the cello and then drugging the hapless Bond. But
then who cares, concentrate on her delicious hair.
