BIRGIT COMPTON'S
ALICE IN WONDERLAND - Page twelve
Alice in red dress
A book by one Yates Wilson in the style of Lewis Carol and published in the late 1950s fell into our possession recently, notable only for the fine
detailed drawing of Alice (and her dress) on the front cover. This rendering of the classic Alice outfit holds all the ideals we've previously discussed in
depth and which feature in our own replica of the one worn by Fiona Fullerton, (in the 1972 musical version), except that this one is a kind of rusty
colour. One thing though, can anyone tell us what the green chameleon is doing in the middle of the picture clinging to the stem of Alice's rose ?
Given that the original stories were set in 19th century Oxfordshire this seems somewhat out of place to put it mildly.
The lovely (to look at, at least) Paris Hilton shows that she's also
bought into the Alice in Wonderland look.
There's no need to put the name on the pinafore dear, we get the idea.
We also came across the paperback version of the classic story from the
early 70s which featured some photos from the aforementioned Fiona
Fullerton vehicle we hadn't seen before and share with you here :
Alice and some feathered wildlife
It's a talking rabbit for heaven's sake, does it matter whether it's late or not ?!
You're not going to fit through that door, my dear.
Did somebody knock ?
Yes it's low tar - and quite safe.
Social Services were sure to hear about this.
