BIRGIT COMPTON'S
FRENCH MAIDS - page twenty
More general musings from the world of the French Maid
We stumbled across an interesting
website this week where you can
organise a young lady to visit your
home and do some dusting and such
like while dressed, of course, as a
French Maid. Now why didn't we
think of that ?! Birgit has already
been doing some mental calculations
of how much money she could make
and of course she already has her
own uniform, right ?
The site carries an instructional
video for would be French Maids
(screen-grabs shown here), on to
post an advert, suggesting they make
a video of themselves, take some
pictures in their best French Maid
finery and then sit back and wait to
be hired. What's not to like ?!
The video then continues with
exhaustive suggestions on what the
budding maid might do when visiting
a client's house. Whilst stressing that
hanky-panky is off the table, it list
and show lots of cleaning -type
activities that might to conducted
instead. Making sure the client has a
drink and a good view are all taken
into consideration before dusting
the TV, doing some Hovering,
cleaning the blinds, tidying the coffee
table, some ironing, maybe cooking
dinner, not forgetting the
washing-up, I mean, if you can't
afford your own full-time French
Maid then this does all seem rather
splendid.
The tag -line is 'it's more than you
think', more than you think ?! How
much more can we think ?! Good grief!

You could do far worse than go along to their
website yourself and take a look. The ladies
signed up so far all seem to be the USA, but if
you're somewhere in America and it's dusty there,
now you know what to do.
Elsewhere, the Japanese obsession with the French Maid look is well known, but those without at least a nodding
acquaintance with the Japanese language will often find their websites impenetrable. Here's one that caters for the
non-Japanese amongst us : http://www.candyfruit.com/english/
The translation
to English is a bit
bonkers at times,
in an adhering
way, but the pics
are fab and
there's lot of cute
outfits to buy if
you have a
bundle of yen
burning a hole in
your trouser
pocket.
